Sarah
The face behind our operations, clever product designs and tea concoctions - meet our gorgeous Hollie. We’ve sat down with Hollie in her Marrickville home, to find out a little more about life outside of work.
Where is your favourite local Marrickville cafe you love sit down at for breakfast?
I love a good market and Marrickville has a great farmers market every weekend that is perfect to meet friends at for a coffee and to get something fresh to eat, you can even bring your dog.
How do you spend a typical weekend?
I am a fan of Friday night plans because it always makes the weekend feel like it lasts longer. Saturday’s I try to get out and fill up my day as much as I can because I like a good slow Sunday with quality time pottering about the house, at the park, and making time for tea dates with friends.
What hobbies have you picked up lately?
The kettle is usually still hot because from having just made tea and it isn’t unusual to find some new plant cuttings propagating on my windowsill, so I decided to try my hand at a herbalism course. It seems like a really lovely intersection of things I already enjoy, I dream of my own garden one day where I can grow and share all kinds of useful things.
Where did your career journey begin?
My first Product Design and Production role was at ZAKKIA and it was such an amazing time, I am always so grateful looking back at my time with Sarah, Emma and Kelsey because it felt really special, and being such a small team I learnt a lot and fast. It was definitely my broad experience in this first job that helped me score the role Designing Homewares at Country Road in Melbourne. I never forgot my love for the hands-on chaos of small business though, and being back in Sydney with McMullin & Co has me feeling right at home.
What are your favourite pieces in your home?
I have a particular soft spot for handmade ceramics though I think my favourite pieces at home are the ones that mean something to me, that were gifts, inherited or that I got to celebrate a time in my life. I was just given a Clay Canoe and Dasa vessel for my birthday, they were fast favourites, and I feel like the Frank bench is what makes the lounge room.
What are you reading, listening to and watching at the moment?
Alain De Botton’s Architecture of Happiness, SBTRKT radio, Ricky Gervais's After Life
How do you practice self-care?
8 hours of sleep, every time.
