Folded Laundromat

From the outset, Folded Laundromat by Folk Studio was grounded in a clear sense of community. Reimagining the traditional laundromat, the intention was to create more than a purely functional space for everyday chores, instead shaping an environment that invites pause, ease, and a moment of calm within the rhythm of the day.

Rather than something to move through quickly, Folded encourages people to slow down and settle in, whether that’s taking a seat, sharing a conversation, or simply enjoying a quieter moment between tasks. The space shifts the experience from transactional to considered, offering a setting that feels welcoming, familiar, and gently restorative.

McMullin was pleased to contribute to this vision through the Camilla Table Lamp, positioned at the centre of the main counter. Its sculptural form introduces warmth and softness into an otherwise considered palette of stainless steel, natural stone, and deep blue tile. In this setting, the piece acts as a quiet anchor, balancing the industrial materiality with a sense of atmosphere and tactility.

Folk Studio’s immersive use of blue tones and layered textures creates a colour-drenched environment that feels both bold and welcoming. Within this, McMullin’s presence helps soften and ground the space, reinforcing a sense of comfort within an otherwise utilitarian setting.
