Can you introduce yourself and share a little about what you do?
We’re Jade Gillett and Goldie (Brent Gold), Co-Founders and Creative Directors of RAINBOW STUDIOS. An ever evolving creative, two level showroom/space in Darlinghurst that lives somewhere between an art gallery, event venue and a creative playground. We created it as a home for expression, collaboration and curation. A growing platform that supports artists, designers and brands to create meaningful cultural experiences. Together, we lead the creative direction across everything from visual identity and interiors to exhibitions and immersive events.
Is there a project or something you're currently working on that excites you?
We’re in the midst of curating a new series of creative summer events that sit at the intersection of food, art and design. It’s about building sensory, meaningful moments where people can experience an event in unexpected ways. Our up and coming partnership and collaboration with our friends at McMullin & Co is just around the corner and we can't wait to announce what is instore! This will be our first partnership where both of the levels throughout the venue will be transformed into a liveable home installation that brings together each studio’s distinct approach to spatial design and art curation.
Walk us through your creative process — how do you find focus, and what fuels your inspiration?
Jade: Right now, I’m overseas for the first time in years since starting the business, and that sense of newness and escapism has been incredibly energising. Experiencing different environments and cultures is giving me a lot of creative ideas that I can’t wait to bring back with me. In my day-to-day life, I find focus and inspiration through much simpler rituals, being out in nature, taking daily walks with the sun on my skin, and creating space away from the constant noise of running a business. Those moments of presence really open up room for ideas to flow. I’m also hugely inspired by connecting with people. Meeting someone new, whether personally or professionally, often sparks unexpected conversations and opportunities. You never really know who you’ll meet or where those connections might lead, and that sense of possibility fuels me creatively.
What is your favourite room or space in your home and why?
The kitchen. Always the kitchen. It’s the place where people naturally gather, even when you don’t plan it. It holds energy, the kind that sparks conversation, laughter, ideas. It’s also where we slow down, cook, reflect. It's my calm place!
You live in Darlinghurst — what is your local hero or best kept secret?
RAINBOW STUDIOS is in the heart of Darlinghurst, surrounded by creativity, energy, and a strong sense of community. We’re spoiled for choice when it comes to food and drink in the area. For a quick bite, we’ll often grab a classic sandwich from Darlo Deli or a Japanese-style sando from Punpun. When it comes to winding down, our current favourite spot for an afternoon wine and a little people-watching is Paradise in Potts Point, always delicious food, always great vibes.
