Bella Thomas brings her refined, quietly expressive aesthetic into a new chapter of living. Known for her considered approach to ritual and daily life, her home reflects the same sensibility, pared back, textural, and deeply personal.
In this light-filled space, form meets function with ease. Sculptural pieces like the Etta Sofa and Etta Bed Base anchor each room, creating a sense of calm that feels both intentional and effortless.
01 Your approach to interiors feels considered, personal and quietly expressive. How do you balance function and feeling when designing a home from the ground up?
I’d say about 90% of what fills our home is second hand / vintage. I think this approach is what helps our home feel a little more lived in. We have a handful of secondhand designer pieces like our Artek day bed and Vitsoe shelves - these pieces lift the space really well.
02 The Etta Sofa and Etta Bed Base anchor your living and bedroom spaces. What drew you to these pieces, and how do they influence the mood of each room?
I love how ‘there’ but ‘not there’ they are. I’m usually drawn to pieces that don’t take too much attention, that are just effortlessly beautiful. The Etta Sofa in particular has been such a nice addition to our space.
03 There is a softness and ease to your interiors. What elements do you return to when creating a sense of calm?
I always love a home that is filled with personal character and memories. Whenever I’m travelling I’m searching for pieces that could have a place in our home.
04 How has this new home reshaped your daily rituals, and what does home mean to you now in this next chapter?
My daily rituals have stayed much the same - I take these with me wherever I am in the world. Home for me is the place where I can completely switch off, it’s our sanctuary. It’s more about the life that happens within it than the space itself.
05 How has having an outdoor space changed the way you spend your days and experience home?
Having a garden is something I’ve always dreamed of. Now that I have one, it’s quite daunting! My spare time is spent researching all the plants we have and what they need to thrive. I spend most mornings in the garden, checking in on everything. Weekends are now spent in the garden, weeding, mowing and cleaning up. It’s so much fun!
06 Tell us about the garden as it is now. What are you growing, working on or experimenting with, and what would you love to see it become over time?
I want our garden to just feel like another room in the house, eventually I would love to grow most of what we eat.
At the moment we have huge banana trees that had an incredible harvest earlier this year. We froze most of them as we could only eat so many at the time. We also have a big fig tree that gives us the sweetest fruits. The leaves are starting to grow back now, I’ve already spotted a few figs. Early this year it produced 100’s !! We also have a lime tree, lots of celery and herbs. The garden is lush and alive!
